The Aqara Hub M3 continues the success of the M2, with the ability to connect to multiple device types and act as a Thread Border Router. Connecting over dual-band Wi-Fi or Ethernet and enabling local LAN control in the event of an internet outage, the M3 will retain the IR blaster functionality to control legacy devices (and recognize when an external remote control is used to maintain device status).
The M3 hub also adds additional functionality to Aqara devices such as the P2 Door and Window sensor, with adjustable sensitivity and a tamper alarm, and can expose some older Zigbee devices to the Matter network.
The M3 hub includes a powerful 95dB speaker for a home alarm system or custom voice announcements.
The Aqara M3 Hub is expected to be released in Q2 2024.
