By connecting the L2 to Matter, you'll be able to lock and unlock your door with a tap via your preferred smart home app and through voice commands. You'll also have the ability to use it in scenes, groups, and routines/automation alongside Matter devices from other vendors.

As you can imagine, Matter integration opens up a world of automation possibilities. For example, you can use a Matter-compatible door and window sensor to automatically lock the door when it closes, or have your smart light bulbs turn on when the L2 unlocks.

That's not all. Since the L2 supports Matter 1.2 specifications, platforms like Home Assistant can access additional status information and offer two new distinct actions: Unlock and Open Door.

According to Yale, these actions are particularly useful for European-style locks. Using the Unlock function allows for passage when turning the knob or handle just as you would expect, but the Open Door option releases the hardware latch so users can simply push the door open to access the other side.
