Meross has announced the release of its latest Matter-compatible product today, the MTS300MA Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat. The release is notable as it makes Meross just the second vendor to offer a Matter-enabled smart thermostat for North American HVAC systems—the rest are from Nest.
Meross MTS300MA Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat: HVAC Compatibility
According to Meross, the MTS300MA thermostat is compatible with 95% of heating and cooling systems including furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, and heat pumps. Like most smart thermostats, the MTS300MA requires a C-Wire for power, but thankfully, the company offers an adapter that allows it to work in homes without one.
Before purchasing, Meross recommends visiting its compatibility checker page to confirm that a user's home has the appropriate wiring. Once confirmed, users can expect a DIY-friendly app-guided installation process that can be completed in as little as 30 minutes.
Meross MTS300MA Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat: Design and Specs
The MTS300MA sports an all-glass front touch display and white plastic construction that gives it a similar appearance to Amazon's Smart Thermostat. The thermostat is incredibly compact, measuring just 3.6 x 0.9 x 3.6 inches, and uses a traditional two-piece design where the display portion snaps into the wiring back plate.
Aside from a C-Wire adapter, Meross provides everything needed for installation in the box. Accessories include wiring stickers, mounting hardware, a built-in level, and a trim plate for covering any holes in the wall left behind from previous thermostats.
The thermostat supports a setpoint range of 41—95℉ and features an accuracy rating of ±1℉ and ±10% Humidity. The thermostat is FCC and IC certified, and can safely operate in temperatures ranging from 32°-104°F and 10%-90% humidity.
Through the use of scheduling and remote adjustments, Meross estimates that the MTS300MA can save users up to 30% on energy costs yearly over a standard non-smart thermostat. And, the actual thermostat itself sips power consuming less than 1 watt during normal operation.
Meross MTS300MA Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat: Matter Features and Connectivity
As its name suggests, the MTS300MA connects directly to home networks via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi without the need for an additional hub. While the thermostat supports the latest smart home standard, setup requires the company's mobile app to properly configure certain HVAC aspects of the device before it can be paired to Matter.
Once connected to Matter, users will have the ability to make heating and cooling adjustments from their preferred smart home ecosystem. This includes Amazon's Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and Apple Home, each with the ability to control the thermostat remotely with a tap or voice command.
The MTS300MA will also be available for use alongside other Matter-compatible devices in automation, groups, and scenes. This means that users will be able to use Matter-enabled temperature and humidity sensors placed in otherrooms to determine when the thermostat calls for heating and cooling.
The thermostat also works with the company's own line of smart sensors when combined with a Meross hub. However, it is important to note that most Meross sensors and its hub are not currently compatible with Matter.
Meross MTS300MA Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat: Pricing and Availability
The Meross MTS300MA Smart Wi-Fi Thermosat is available now directly from meross.com at a retail price of $99.99 US. However, to celebrate the launch, Meross is offering a discount that makes it available for just $69.99 US for a limited time.
We expect to see the thermostat available on Amazon in the near future alongside other Meross smart home products. If you are interested, you can keep an eye on the company's Amazon store page by clicking here.
