The iOS 18.4 developer beta dropped a few days ago and there's good news for anyone with a robot mop or vacuum — the Apple Home app now includes support for Matter-enabled robot vacuums.
Only One Compatible Model for Now with More to Follow
At the time of writing, only one robot vacuum is currently compatible, but other manufacturers will soon follow with software updates so more devices support the Matter protocol. Those who already own a Switchbot S10 Robot Vacuum and Mop can use the Apple Home app to control the vacuum via voice commands from iPhone, Apple TV, HomePods, or any other iOS device.
The following robot vacuum cleaners currently support Matter, or will in the near future:
Roomba Combo 10 Max

- Amazon UK - £699.00

Robot vacuums already come with their own dedicated iPhone app, but adding native suport in the Apple Home app enables Siri voice commands to control basic functions. The device type has not recieved any significant upgrade since it was added in Matter 1.2, and it remains to be seen if it is enhanced in the forthcoming Spring 2025 revision.
Apple Home App Supports Basic Cleaning Commands
The basic controls in the Apple Home app are designed to enable robot vacuums to carry out simple tasks — for example setting it to start cleaning, stop cleaning, or enabling or disabling the mop function. It can also be used to set preset modes like Deep Clean or return the device to its dock to charge.

For anything more advanced, including custom routes and room mapping, the robot vacuum's companion app will still be used.
iOS 18.4 is currently in developer beta and is expected to release publicly in April. Matter robot vacuum support will also be included in upcoming versions of other Apple OS, including iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, tvOS 18.4 and watchOS 11.4.
