After rolling out a limited beta for lighting earlier this year, IKEA has finally expanded its Workshop program to include Matter support for even more device types. Starting today, users can download a new firmware update (version 2.615.8) for the DIRIGERA smart hub that brings Matter support to the following devices:
- Smart plugs/outlets
- Blinds/shades
- Remotes
- Motion sensors
- Contact sensors
- Air purifiers
- Air quality sensors
Once the update is installed, existing devices will automatically transfer to Matter if the user has opted into the Workshop program. If you haven't yet enrolled you can find all the steps needed in our handy guide – How to Use the IKEA DIRIGERA with Matter.
With the new update and existing support for lighting, IKEA's Matter compatibility now covers almost all of its current product line, making it a serious player in the smart home market. IKEA currently offers a wide range of affordable devices like a $7 smart plug and some rather unique offerings such as a table with an air purifier built-in.
As far as we can tell, the only remaining omission from the company's lineup is the BADRING water leak sensor. However, we expect that to change relatively soon as the water sensor device type was recently added in the Matter 1.3 release.
