Govee launches New Matter-Compatible 2s Lite Temperature and Humidity Sensor

Following last week's release of the company's first Matter-compatible BR30 Smart Light Bulb, Govee is back at it again with the launch of yet another smart home essential. This time around, Govee is focusing on whole-home climate monitoring with the release of the new Smart Thermo-Hygrometer 2s Lite—a high-precision indoor temperature and humidity sensor that offers remote viewing, timely alerts, and extra-long battery life.

Govee Smart Thermo-Hygrometer 2s Lite: Why it Matters

Govee's Thermo-Hygrometer 2s Lite features a compact and discreet wireless design measuring just 1.1x1.1x0.79 inches and weighing only 2.08 ounces. The sensor is powered by 2 included AAA batteries with Govee promising infrequent replacements as users can expect to see up to two years of usage before needing to be swapped.

According to Govee, the new 2s Lite sensor incorporates Swiss-made components that provide precise readings with ±0.54°F / ±0.3℃ accuracy and humidity within ±3% RH. Measurements are captured and logged every 2 seconds and are sent to the Govee Home app—available on iOS and Android—where users can view a rolling 20-day history or export up to two years of data.

Unlike most of Govee's smart lighting line, the new 2s Lite sensor utilizes Bluetooth for its smart home connectivity. While Bluetooth offers a quick and easy way to view the sensor's status through the Govee Home app right out of the box, connecting it to Matter requires the company's H5151 Wi-Fi Gateway.

Although we aren't the biggest fans of vendor-specific hubs, the Gateway's simple plug-in design allows for placement just about anywhere and it is expandable as it supports a total of 10 sensors. Through Matter, Govee's 2s Lite will appear and act just like other smart temperature and humidity sensors, providing passive measurements and the ability to be used as a trigger for automation and routines.
