Govee launches new Matter-compatible E12 Smart LED Light Bulb

Following the release of the company's first Matter-compatible BR30 light bulbs in February, Govee is bringing affordable smart lighting to even more fixtures around the home with today's launch of a new E12 Smart Light Bulb. Govee's latest offering supports millions of colors, full dimming capabilities, and Matter support right out of the box without the need for an additional account or hub.  

Govee E12 Smart Light Bulb: why it matters

As with other Matter-compatible candelabra light bulbs, Govee's E12 features a tapered blunt-tipped design measuring 4.1 inches tall and 1.4 inches wide. The bulb's slim profile and operating temperature range between -4 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit allow it to fit into confined areas typically found in chandeliers, ceiling fans, and spotlights, but it lacks any form of weather resistance so it is only suited for indoor usage.

The Govee E12 Smart Light Bulb is an RGBWW bulb giving it the ability to produce over 16 million colors, and it supports tuneable white color temperature adjustments spanning 2,700-6500k. At its brightest, the E12 bulb can output up to 450 lumens while consuming just 5.8 watts, and the 40-watt equivalent offers a full dimming range of 1-100%.

Govee's E12 bulb utilizes 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for seamless pairing with Matter and smart home ecosystems like Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and Apple Home. Through Matter, the E12 bulb can be slotted in alongside other smart home devices in scenes and automation, and it can be easily shared to other platforms through Multi-Admin functionality.

While the new bulb doesn't require the company's Govee Home app to get it up and running, users can use it to unlock additional functionality over Matter's basic set of controls. Additional features include music syncing, timers, and scheduling, and it also offers over 50 dynamic scenes to choose from making it an excellent choice for mood lighting.
