Eve Launches New Smart Dimmer Switch With Matter-Over-Thread Connectivity

Eve Systems has taken the wraps off its latest Matter smart home device with today's announcement of the all-new Eve Dimmer Switch. The new switch—which is slated for release next month—features hub-free Matter pairing thanks to the inclusion of Thread, and on-device and remote dimming controls without the need for an account.
Eve Dimmer Switch: Why it Matters
Like the original Eve Light Switch, the new dimmer switch sports a sleek modern design with a large capacitive touch surface, a decora-style frame, and included screwless faceplate. However, whereas the original only supported touch, the dimmer adopts a hybrid control scheme with the addition of a physical rocker for adjusting the brightness levels of connected lighting.
According to Eve, the dimmer switch is UL safety certified and supports max lighting loads of up to 150 watts for LED bulbs or 600 watts for incandescent or tungsten bulbs. Regardless of bulb type, it offers "flicker-free" dimming ensuring a smooth transition between incremental brightness adjustments and it works in single-pole or three-way configurations.
As with other Eve accessories, the new dimmer switch supports Matter-over-Thread connectivity for seamless pairing to any of the major smart home ecosystems. And since the dimmer switch is constantly powered, it will act as a Full Thread Device allowing it to act as a Router and mesh extender which will increase response times, wireless coverage, and reliability for existing networks.
In addition to on/off toggles, dimming controls, and automation through Matter, users can opt to download the Eve app—available on iOS and Android—for more customization options. These include the ability to set bulb type, default brightness, status indicator state, and set schedules that run entirely on-device.

The Eve Dimmer Switch will begin shipping starting March 17th in the United States and Canada. Pricing starts at $49.95 USD/$74.95 CAD and will be available for purchase through evehome.com and Eve's Amazon Store when released.
