Amazon Expands Its Wi-Fi 7 Line With a Pair of New Eero Mesh Routers

Following its release of the Eero 7 Max in late 2023, Amazon has announced that it is expanding its Wi-Fi 7 line with a pair of new wireless mesh routers. The all-new Amazon Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7 router systems offer increased wireless performance, greater reliability, and support for more devices—all while acting as a Matter Controller and smart home hub.

Amazon Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7: Why they Matter

Positioned as its most affordable Wi-Fi 7 router, the base Amazon Eero 7 is a multi-gigabit dual-band mesh system that covers homes up to 2,000 square feet per unit. The Eero 7 supports 2.4Ghz/5Ghz and can deliver wireless speeds up to 1.8Gbps for 120+ devices, or wired speeds up to 2.3Gbps through any of its two available 2.5GbE ports.

The new Eero Pro 7 offers a step up in performance with tri-band 2.4Ghz/5Ghz/6Ghz radios that according to Amazon, provide up to 3.9Gbps speeds wirelessly, or 4.7GBps for wired connections via its dual 5 GbE ports. The Eero Pro 7 covers the same 2,000 square feet per router as the base model—and up to 6,000 square feet with three—but provides additional bandwidth capable of supporting 200 devices each.

Both routers are backward compatible with previous Eero nodes and extenders and work with other Wi-Fi 7 systems including the aforementioned Eero 7 Max, and the Eero Outdoor 7. They also play nicely with Amazon Echo smart speakers and displays, allowing them to expand mesh wireless coverage by functioning as range extenders.

Like previous Eero releases, the new Wi-Fi 7 routers continue to serve as a foundational piece of the smart home. That's because Eero routers not only support seamless integration with Amazon's Alexa, but they also serve as Matter Controllers, Thread Border Routers, and ZigBee hubs for a wide range of smart home devices.

Amazon Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7: Pricing and Availability

The Amazon Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7 mesh wireless router systems are available for preorder starting today and will launch on February 26th at Amazon, Best Buy, and other retailers in the US, UK, Italy, France, Germany, and Spain. The new routers will also be available in Canada beginning on March 26th and will expand to Australia and Japan later this year.

Pricing for the dual-band Eero 7 starts at $169.99 for a single unit, while a two or three-pack will set you back $279.99 and $349.99 respectively. As with the base Eero 7, the tri-band Eero Pro 7 system is also available as a single unit and in multi-packs with pricing starting at $299.99 for one router, $549.99 for two, and $699.99 for three.
