Aqara launches new Matter-compatible M100 hub and sensor
Aqara launches its Matter-compatible M100 hub with Zigbee/Thread support and the global W100 climate sensor, part of their 2025 smart home lineup.

After recently adopting Matter 1.4, smart home outfit Aqara has confirmed its release of a new Matter hub M100, along with the global release of the W100 climate sensor, which we shared with you last week.
The Aqara Hub M100
A successor to the earlier Hub M2 and Hub M3 devices, the Aqara Hub M100 is a Matter controller with Zigbee support that also operates as a Thread Border Router and a Matter Bridge.
With this connected to your smart home system, Zigbee and Thread devices can be connected into the Aqara (or third party) Matter smart home ecosystem. So, connected devices can be controlled either within the Aqara app, or with any of the larger Matter-supporting platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, etc.
To demonstrate how much of an upgrade this device is, you can connect up to 20 Thread and 20 Zigbee devices to the Aqara Hub M100.

The W100 Climate Sensor
As we recently shared, the W100 climate sensor supports Bluetooth, Thread, and Zigbee, and is powered with two CR2450 batteries. This should provide up to 28 months’ power.
As a climate sensor, the W100 specifically monitors temperature and humidity, displaying real-time readings on a 3.4-inch LCD. Additional data, such as local weather or information from a second W100, can also be displayed, but only in Zigbee mode.

Aqara’s W100 is a dual-protocol indoor climate sensor with a display and smart control buttons for seamless home automation.
The three buttons on the device are Matter-compatible and are configurable, for scenes and automations for HVAC purposes. It supports all the usual smart home systems, including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.
What else is coming from Aqara in 2025?
Also announced today is the Aqara Camera Protect Kit Y100. Compatible with the popular smart home platforms, this is not include Matter support. Because the kit is a collection of sensors and a Camera Hub G3, and Matter does not yet support camera streaming, it is a Zigbee-only kit. Perhaps an imminent update to Matter will change this...?
These items form part of Aqara’s 2025 lineup, as leaked before CES 2025, and confirmed at the event. More is expected, not least the Panel Hub S1, a wall-mounted Matter control panel. We’re also looking out for the W500 Floor Heating Thermostat, a global variant of the W400 thermostat, which released in China with the W100 Climate Sensor.
